Watch Harry Styles' 'Dunkirk' Interview On 'Today' Show (VIDEO)

Harry Styles appeared live on the “Today” show on Wednesday to discuss his role in Dunkirk. Watch the video below!

Dunkirk, directed by Christopher Nolan, tells the real-life story of the life-and-death evacuation of Allied soldiers during World War II. Styles has a small but pivotal role in the film, which marks his big-screen debut as an actor. At the morning show, he was joined by the war drama’s lead star, Fionn Whitehead. Together, they bantered with Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb about the project, despite the seriousness of the plot. But they also spoke quite candidly about the importance of the movie.

“I think everyone kind of got there and the focus was everyone wanted to tell this story because it’s such an incredible story. It was kind of like the one focus, really,” Styles said of arriving on set. He went through a lengthy audition process, with Nolan unaware of the depth of his fame. The singer admitted, “I feel incredibly lucky to have been a part of such an amazing story, and the cast is people I’m such a massive fan of and I’m a massive fan of Chris.”

He went on to note, “It’s quite a lean script. There’s not a ton of dialogue. You don’t have these big back stories with the characters. I think you don’t really need it. I think the fact that they’re quite blank, as an audience member, you’re watching it kind of projecting your own fear onto them, so as you’re watching it, you’re just seeing these people as yourself.”

“I’m such a massive fan of so many people working on this film,” Styles stressed. “It was amazing being on set. I think it was so overwhelming to be on a set of this scale. It was amazing to be kind of going through it, really.” He amusingly adding, “And I think everyone should watch it several times.” As Gossip Cop reported at the time, Styles was last at the “Today” show in May for a concert.
