Rebecca Black, the viral sensation behind “Friday,” has come out as queer.

The 22-year-old spoke on this and more candid feelings about her sexuality during a recent appearance on the podcast, Dating Straight. Speaking on her love life, Black opened the conversation by recalling a recent breakup she had with another woman.

"I was dating someone and I know they might watch this... but one of the reasons that we went through this breakup was because I was really needed alone time, not from them, but just in general," she told podcast hosts Jack Dodge and Amy Ordman. "But I'm doing okay... every day really is different."

The Internet star further explained, “I made a conscious decision to not like 'come out' but to just like, I don't know, people started asking and I stopped responding. I'm still in the process it feels like."

Part of that process, the “Sweetheart” singer expressed, involves introspection and relying on the support of close ones. "Every day is different, it's something that over the past few years I've obviously been having a lot of conversations with myself about... and with you guys, my friends and my family,” she explained.

"To me, the word 'queer' feels really nice,” Black added. “I have dated a lot of different types of people, and I just don't really know what the future holds. Some days, I feel a little more on the 'gay' side than others.”

Black’s revelation comes nearly on the 10-year anniversary of her breakout song “Friday,” which premiered in 2011. Since then, the YouTuber has released more original music content on her YouTube channel — see it here.
