Pete Davidson was once covered in hundreds of tattoos, but over the past few years, he has been gradually removing most of his ink in an effort toward getting himself to a "clean slate."

During an appearance on The Tonight Show on Thursday (January 30), the King of Staten Island star detailed to host Jimmy Fallon the "horrible" tattoo removal process as he continues his path of "trying to be an adult" by getting rid of the majority of his around 200 tattoos, per Page Six.

"I've been burning them off," he said, revealing the process feels "worse" than originally getting the ink. "They burn off a layer of your skin, then it has to heal for six to eight weeks. You can't get in the sunlight. And then you've got to do it, like, 12 more times."

Davidson claimed that the ink covering most of his body came as a result of him being "a sad boy" during a "weird time" of his life, and he urged caution for others looking to get their own permanent marks, joking that people should "really think about that Game of Thrones tattoo you're thinking of getting" before fully committing to the ink.

Despite his desire for a clean slate, the Saturday Night Live alum noted that he doesn't plan to get rid of all of his ink, admitting that there are "two or three" that he would like to keep, though he didn't reveal which ones.

The comedian previously shared that his motivation to get his tattoos removed came from the affect the ink had on his acting career, revealing that it could take hours in the makeup chair to cover it up.
