Will Smith performed one of his top-charting hits live for the first time in years and enlisted some of his friends to help him.
On Thursday night, February 20, the veteran rapper opened the 2025 Premios Lo Nuestro by performing his new single "First Love" with flamenco-pop singer India Martinez at the Kaseya Center in Miami. After they delivered the fresh track, Smith slipped out of his suit and tie and put on a tropical button-up. That's when Smith brought out his friend DJ Khaled to help him perform his classic song "Miami" with assistance from the lovely Thalia.
Smith performed his signature verse flawlessly while Khaled acted as his hype man. Meanwhile, Thalia, who also helped host the annual awards show, held it down by singing the timeless "Bienvenido a Miami" line in the chorus. All three busted out some salsa moves at center stage as the Miami Sound Machine transitioned into their timeless hit "Conga."
Smith's opening number at Premios Lo Nuestro emphasized the award show's theme of "Uniting Generations." It went down just days after he released his latest single "First Love," which is set to appear on his forthcoming album. Smith is gearing up to drop his first solo album in years, Based On A True Story. He recently explained his plans to release the album in three "seasons" like a TV show. The first installment is scheduled to arrive in March.
