The New York Jets have reportedly traded pass rusher Jermaine Johnson to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for defensive tackle T'Vondre Sweat, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter Thursday (February 26) morning.
"Trade: the New York Jets are sending DE Jermaine Johnson to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for DT T'Vondre Sweat, per ESPN sources. The trade cannot be processed until the start of the new league year in March," Schefter wrote on his X account. "T’Vondre Sweat was a second-round pick of the Titans in 2024, the No. 38 overall selection, by the previous regime. He now heads to New York to be with Aaron Glenn."
The reported move will reunite Johnson with newly hired Titans head coach Robert Saleh, who selected Johnson at No. 26 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft and coached him during his first three seasons with the Jets. The former Florida State standout was selected as a Pro Bowler in 2023, but suffered a season-ending torn Achilles tendon in New York's Week 2 matchup against the Titans during the 2024 season.
The Jets still picked up the fifth-year option on Johnson's contract the following offseason and he recorded 43 tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks and six QB hits in 2025.
